Publication Ethics
The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely
a. Publication managers are free from conflicts of interest (neutrality);
b. Managers provide opportunities to all authors without discrimination (justice);
c. Managers guarantee transparent management in publications free from duplication, fabrication and plagiarism
Duties and Responsibilities of Scientific Journal Managers
a. Determine the name of the journal, scope of science, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary;
b. Determine the membership of the editorial board;
c. Clearly define the relationship between stakeholders - publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract;
d. Maintain the confidentiality of the parties - contributing researchers, authors, editors and peer reviewers;
e. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights (IPR), especially copyright;
f. Conduct journal policy reviews and convey them to authors, editorial boards, peer reviewers and readers;
g. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers;
h. Publish journals regularly;
i. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
j. Build a network of cooperation and marketing
k. Prepare permits and other legal aspects.
Editors work based on principles and ethical standards:
a. Responsible for the selection of journal content;
b. Obliged to create guidelines and environmental styles for authors;
c. Critically assess that the written work is free from violations, honest and objective ethics, independent, free from prejudice in making decisions including in choosing peer review partners, and;
d. Ensure that the review process of written works is carried out comprehensively, transparently, objectively, and fairly.
Editor's Duties and Responsibilities
a. Meeting the needs of readers and authors
b. Striving for continuous improvement Striving for continuous improvement of publication quality;
c. Implementing a process to ensure the quality of published written works;
d. Prioritizing freedom of opinion objectively;
e. Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record;
f. Delivering corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary;
g. Responsible for the style and format of the written work, while the content and all statements in the written work are the responsibility of the author/writer,
h. Actively soliciting opinions from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve the quality of publications,
i. Encouraging journal assessments if there are findings;
j. Supporting initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethics Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Commission;
k. Supporting initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics,
l. Reviewing the effects of publication policies on the attitudes of authors/writers and peer reviewers and improving them to increase responsibility and minimize errors;
M. Having an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions;
N. Not defending one's own opinion, the author's or third parties' opinions that may result in non-objective decisions;
O. Encouraging authors/writers to be able to improve their written work until it is worthy of publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
1. Submitting the results of the review to the editor and recommendations on the suitability of the written work to be published;
2. Reviewers have the right to reject written work provided by the editor if there is involvement in the written work either directly or indirectly;
3. Maintaining the privacy of the author by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations;
4. Providing recommendations and improvements to the written work of the author;
5. Reviewing the results of improvements that have been made by the author in accordance with the standards that have been determined;
6. Reviewing written works according to the time and style of the environment that has been determined based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors/Writers
1. Ensuring that the submitted written work is in accordance with the criteria that have been determined;
2. being collectively responsible for the substance of the published article;
3. disclosing the source of funding, both directly and indirectly, for the published article;
4. Follow up on recommendations and comments from peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner;
5. Explain the limitations of the research he/she has conducted;
6. Inform the editor via email or the comments column in OJS if the author withdraws the submitted paper;
